Essential Accessories Every Solar Installation Needs

It’s easy to price out a solar installation by adding up panel cost, inverter cost, and mounting rail cost — and just as easy to underestimate everything else the system actually needs to be safe, code-compliant, and durable. Earthing clips, rain clips, end caps, junction boxes, and cable clips rarely show up in marketing photos, but skipping or cheaping out on any of them shows up eventually.

Earthing and grounding hardware

Every metal component in an array — rails, clamps, panel frames — needs to be electrically bonded to a proper earthing system. Earth clips create that continuous bonding path, and it’s not optional: an ungrounded metal array is a lightning and fault-current risk that a properly installed earthing kit eliminates for a relatively small cost against the total system price.

Weatherproofing details

Rain clips and properly sealed roof penetrations are what keep a rooftop array from turning every mounting bolt into a slow leak. On a metal roof especially, the seal quality at each mounting point matters as much as the mounting hardware itself — a structurally sound rail system with a poorly sealed penetration will still cause water damage over time.

None of these components are expensive individually, which is exactly why they’re the easiest place for a rushed installation to cut corners — and the first place a facility manager should check when auditing an existing system.
